Working Air Conditioners
Brave the Apocalypse with Working Air Conditioners in Project Zomboid
The harsh realities of Project Zomboid’s zombie-infested world extend beyond the undead threat. Surviving sweltering summers and bone-chilling winters can be just as perilous. Introducing the Working Air Conditioners mod, a game-changer designed to bring a crucial element of comfort and survival to your fortified bases. This mod allows you to harness the power of climate control, ensuring your survivors remain comfortable regardless of the season.
Securing Your Climate Control Units
Finding these essential appliances isn’t a matter of crafting. Air conditioners are pre-installed fixtures you’ll discover attached to the walls of various industrial buildings and warehouses scattered throughout the game world. Keep an eye out for them; even a familiar location like the Muldraugh bakery might hide one. Once located, simply detach the unit and transport it back to your base.
Seamless Installation and Operation
Installing and operating an air conditioner requires no special skills or tools. Once you’ve brought an AC unit to your base, place it on an exterior wall where you desire its effects. Right-click the unit and select “Attach” to secure it to the wall.
For the unit to function, a stable power source is essential. Connect your base to existing generators or integrate solar panel systems to provide the necessary electricity. With power established, simply right-click the air conditioner again and choose “Turn On.” The reverse is just as straightforward.
Customizing Your Comfort Zone
The Working Air Conditioners mod offers granular control over your environment. Access the “Settings” panel via a right-click menu to adjust the desired temperature and fan speed. The temperature setting dictates the climate within your base, while the fan speed influences the radius of the effect. It’s important to note that the in-game heat propagation system has some limitations, and you might encounter occasional blockages. Experimentation with placement and the use of multiple units can help mitigate these issues.
Remote Operation and Key Features
For added convenience, air conditioners can be controlled remotely using a standard TV remote. Accessing the remote’s settings in your inventory will allow you to manage nearby units. The system prioritizes the closest unit if multiple are within range, and your character’s facing direction will indicate which unit is being controlled. Note that remote control is limited to units on the same floor.
Key features of the Working Air Conditioners mod include:
- Find and install pre-existing air conditioner units.
- Provide heating in winter and cooling in single-player scenarios.
- Requires a power source (generators, solar panels).
- Adjustable temperature and fan speed settings.
- Remote control functionality with TV remotes.
- Units consume a constant amount of fuel but do not require repairs.
- No toxic gas generation.
- Safe to add or remove from existing saves.
This mod is designed to be safely integrated into your ongoing Project Zomboid experience, enhancing your ability to endure the elements and focus on the primary mission: survival.
