Fence Sheets
Enhance Your Stealth and Security with Project Zomboid’s Fence Sheets Mod
In the harsh world of Project Zomboid, maintaining situational awareness while also protecting yourself from prying eyes is a constant challenge. Now, a new mod introduces an intuitive way to add an extra layer of concealment to your survivor’s base and patrol routes. The Fence Sheets mod allows you to strategically block line of sight on various types of fences and empty doorways, offering a significant advantage in your fight for survival.
Covering Your Blind Spots
This mod directly addresses a common gameplay oversight by enabling you to hang sheets over see-through barriers, much like you can already do with windows. The core functionality is simple: right-click on a suitable fence or an empty door frame and select the “Add Sheet” option. This action consumes a single sheet from your inventory, effectively blocking the view through that specific barrier.
Versatile Coverage for Different Barriers
The Fence Sheets mod understands that not all barriers are created equal. It offers tailored solutions for various structures:
- Tall chainlink, metal bar, and wrought iron fences can now be obscured.
- Wire security fences, jail bars, and mall grilles are also compatible.
- Player-built metal bar fences gain the same visual blocking capabilities.
- Empty door frames, whether pre-existing on the map or constructed by the player, can be covered.
Notably, the mod introduces a clever system for different heights and widths. Taller fences receive a sheet cut to their specific dimensions, while double door frames are fitted with a custom-sized sheet and tarp combination. This ensures a clean and immersive look.
Block Sight, Not Sound (Or Access)
It’s important to note the balance considerations of this mod. While sheets effectively prevent zombies and other players from seeing through them, they do not affect sound. You can still be heard, and the structural integrity of the fence remains unchanged. Furthermore, you can still climb over the fences or pass through the doorways as you normally would, even with a sheet in place. If the barrier is destroyed or a door is installed in a covered frame, the sheet will simply drop to the ground, ready to be retrieved.
Tarps for Larger Areas
For extended stretches of fencing, the mod also includes a “Cover with Tarp” option. A single tarp can cover up to three fence tiles in a row, or even an entire double doorway. This tarp functions as a single, openable, and closable piece, providing a more extensive solution for larger fortifications.
This mod is designed to work seamlessly with your Project Zomboid experience, adding a valuable tactical element without drastically altering core gameplay mechanics.
