Turn Wrecked Cars into Valuable Resources in Project Zomboid

The end of the world has left a trail of abandoned vehicles, but in Project Zomboid, these metal hulks don’t have to be mere obstacles. With the Vehicle Recycling mod, you can transform these defunct machines into much-needed scrap and materials, breathing new life into your survival efforts. Forget dealerships and scrap yards; you are now the post-apocalyptic recycler.

Become a Mobile Salvage Expert

To begin your recycling venture, you’ll need a few essential tools: a Propane Torch and a Welding Mask. Ensure your torch is fueled, and then simply right-click on any vehicle or trailer you wish to dismantle. The amount of propane required will vary depending on the vehicle’s size and the number of parts it contains, making larger vehicles a more significant, but potentially more rewarding, undertaking.

What Can You Recover?

The dismantling process yields a variety of useful materials, with the quantity and quality influenced by your character’s Metalworking skill. You can expect to salvage items such as:

  • Metal Bars
  • Metal Pipes
  • Metal Sheets (both regular and small)
  • Scrap Metal
  • Unusable Metal
  • Electric Wire
  • Electronics Scrap
  • Light Bulbs (may have condition loss)
  • Ripped Sheets or Leather Strips

Remember, any parts you wish to keep for later use should be uninstalled from the vehicle before you begin the dismantling process. Any items left within the vehicle, including its key if you possess it, will be dropped on the ground.

Handling Damaged Vehicles

The Vehicle Recycling mod also intelligently adjusts the dismantling process for burnt and smashed vehicles. These wrecks will require different amounts of propane and will yield even more materials, offering a greater reward for your efforts and providing a significant boost to your Metalworking experience.

Customization and Compatibility

The mod includes configurable options within the sandbox settings. You can choose whether parts must be uninstalled before dismantling and adjust the time multiplier for the dismantling process. This mod is designed to be compatible with Build 41.56 and later, and it should work seamlessly with most custom vehicle mods, though some adjustments to resource yields or propane costs might occur with unique additions.
