Universal Simple Silencers
Universal Simple Silencers for Project Zomboid
For survivors in Project Zomboid, the distinctive crack of a firearm can be a double-edged sword, attracting the undead horde as effectively as it dispatches them. However, a new modification aims to bring a degree of stealth to your ranged engagements. The Universal Simple Silencers mod expands the utility of existing suppressor items, allowing them to be attached to a much wider array of ranged weaponry.
Embrace the Quiet Kill
This mod’s primary function is to remove the restrictions that typically limit suppressor use to specific firearm types. Now, the suppressors introduced by Monkey Magic’s Simple Silencers can be affixed to virtually any ranged weapon you encounter, whether it’s part of the base game or added through other modifications. This opens up exciting new tactical possibilities, allowing for previously unimaginable silent takedowns.
Intelligent (and Not-So-Intelligent) Attachment Logic
The mod employs a straightforward, albeit sometimes unconventional, logic system to determine suppressor compatibility:
- Weapons firing multiple projectiles are classified as shotguns.
- Two-handed weapons are identified as rifles.
- All other ranged weapons are categorized as pistols.
This broad classification means that even if it seems unusual, you can attempt to silence revolvers, modded bows, and a multitude of other projectile-launching tools. The choice to apply a suppressor to a less conventional weapon rests entirely with the player.
Important Considerations
It is crucial to note that this mod is dependent on the original Simple Silencers mod. Both must be installed for the universal attachment functionality to work. Players may encounter visual glitches, such as suppressors appearing to float or at incorrect angles, on certain weapon models. This is often due to the precise and sometimes finicky nature of weapon model alignment within Project Zomboid. If a particular attachment looks out of place, it is simply a limitation of the weapon’s existing model. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to silence a particular weapon rests with the player, offering a flexible approach to combat customization.
