How Desensitization Works
This mod introduces a new mechanic: the potential for your character to become desensitized to the undead threat. The process isn’t instantaneous. After dispatching a significant number of zombies through direct combat – specifically melee and firearms – your character gains a chance to develop this new mental fortitude. The more zombies you eliminate, the higher the probability becomes. For those who truly dedicate themselves to the grim task, reaching a milestone of 2000 zombie kills guarantees desensitization.
The path to becoming desensitized can also be influenced by your character’s starting traits and chosen profession. Certain positive traits can accelerate the process, while negative traits will inherently make it more difficult. Likewise, specific occupations, often those associated with dangerous or high-stress environments, are considered to have a greater predisposition towards developing this hardened mindset.
Key Features and Benefits
When your character finally achieves desensitization, several mutually exclusive traits are removed. This means that those debilitating fears – Cowardly, Agoraphobic, Claustrophobic, and Hemophobic – will no longer plague your survivor. The mod also incorporates a specific trigger: the chance to gain desensitization occurs at midnight.
