Enhance Your Stealth in Project Zomboid with Improvised Silencers
In the unforgiving world of Project Zomboid, drawing unwanted attention can be a death sentence. The Improvised Silencers mod by Maxwell218 introduces a crucial layer of tactical depth, allowing survivors to craft their own sound-dampening attachments for firearms. This mod is designed to seamlessly integrate with your existing games, ensuring that your current playthroughs can benefit from its stealth-enhancing capabilities without interruption.
Craft Your Way to Quieter Encounters
This mod empowers you to become a resourceful gunsmith, capable of fabricating effective silencers from readily available materials. The necessity of a screwdriver for attachment mirrors the game’s vanilla mechanics, maintaining a familiar and grounded experience. Should the game’s systems evolve, the mod aims to adapt, potentially removing this requirement in the future.
A Variety of Improvised Solutions
Maxwell218’s mod offers several distinct silencer options, each with its own balance of sound reduction, range impact, and crafting requirements:
- Silencer: Offers a substantial 80% sound reduction and a minor ~1 tile range decrease. Requires Level 6 Metalworking to craft and is compatible with most firearms, excluding double-barrel shotguns.
- Metal Pipe Silencer: A more accessible option requiring only Level 1 MetalWorking, providing 60% sound reduction with a 1 tile range reduction. Works with most firearms.
- Hand Torch Silencer: Crafted without a skill requirement, this silencer reduces sound by 40% but impacts range by 2 tiles. It’s suitable for pistols, the M16, M14, and Hunting Rifles.
- Water Bottle Silencer: The most basic option, needing no skill to craft. It offers 20% sound reduction and a 2 tile range decrease, compatible with the same firearms as the Hand Torch Silencer.
Addressing Vanilla Inconsistencies
Beyond adding new crafting possibilities, the Improvised Silencers mod also serves to correct visual discrepancies in vanilla weapon attachments. This means that items like the recoil pad for the M14 will now display correctly, further refining the game’s presentation.
Compatibility and Integration
This mod is designed with compatibility in mind, especially with weapon expansion packs. A specific patch is available for seamless integration with the Vanilla Firearms Expansion (VFE). To ensure proper functionality, it’s recommended to enable only the VFE mod and the corresponding patch, making sure the patch loads after VFE through your mod manager.
