Horde Night
Project Zomboid: Brace for the Horde Night Challenge
Prepare yourself for an intense, end-game survival experience in Project Zomboid with the Horde Night mod. This modification introduces a recurring, formidable threat that will test your defenses and your nerve. When the designated time arrives, you won’t just be facing stray walkers; you’ll be confronted by massive swarms of the undead descending upon your location from all directions.
What is Horde Night?
Horde Night transforms the typically sporadic zombie encounters of Project Zomboid into a scheduled, high-stakes event. At specific intervals, a significant warning will alert you to an approaching horde. Shortly after, the game world will erupt with a massive influx of zombies, all focused on your position. This mod is designed to provide a challenging climax to your survival journey, pushing your base-building and combat strategies to their limits.
Customization is Key
The true strength of the Horde Night mod lies in its extensive customization options. Accessible through the sandbox settings under “Advanced Zombie Options,” you can tailor the experience to your exact preferences.
- HordeNight Starting Hour: Dictate the precise hour of the day when the horde will descend.
- First HordeNight Day: Set the day of the apocalypse when the initial horde will appear.
- HordeNight Frequency: Determine how often these massive swarms will attack, from daily assaults to less frequent, but equally deadly, encounters.
- HordeNight Zombie Counts: Adjust the starting number of zombies, how many are added after each subsequent successful defense, and the maximum cap for any given horde.
- Random HordeNight Chance: Introduce an element of unpredictability by enabling random horde spawns outside of the regular schedule.
- HordeNight Spawn Distance: Fine-tune where zombies will materialize around players, crucial for troubleshooting spawning issues.
- HordeNight Indicator: Enable a visual cue on your screen to clearly signal when a Horde Night is imminent.
Multiplayer Considerations
The Horde Night mod is designed to function in multiplayer environments, adding a significant challenge for servers. While the mod attempts to spawn the configured number of zombies for each player, be aware that Project Zomboid’s built-in optimizations may sometimes reduce the total count of spawned zombies in densely populated areas. Additionally, the random horde chance can affect players individually, meaning one survivor might face a surprise attack while others enjoy a peaceful night.
This mod can be added to existing single-player saves or multiplayer worlds, offering a fresh and demanding challenge for any Project Zomboid survivor.
