See in the Dark: Project Zomboid Night Vision Goggles

The nights in Project Zomboid can be the most perilous time. With visibility drastically reduced, the undead become even more of a threat. Fortunately, Fred’s Night Vision Goggles mod equips you with the tools to pierce the darkness and gain a significant advantage.

Essential Gear for Nocturnal Operations

This mod introduces a suite of realistic night vision equipment, allowing survivors to navigate and operate effectively after sundown. The core of the mod revolves around a functional night vision system that can be integrated into your existing loadout.

Key Items Included:

  • AN/PVS-7 Night Vision Goggles
  • AN/PVS-14 Night Vision Goggles
  • AN/PVS-15 Night Vision Goggles
  • GPNVG-18 Night Vision Goggles
  • Rhino Mount
  • Night Vision Head Mount
  • Counterweight

Integrated and Functional

To utilize the night vision, you’ll first need the ‘Night Vision Head Mount.’ This item serves as the base for your NVG setup and can be worn under various headwear, including gas masks and helmets, thanks to its dedicated slot. Crucially, it must be paired with a ‘Counterweight’ to function correctly.

The ‘Rhino Mount’ is then attached to the head mount. This mount can either be used on its own or combined with any of the individual goggle units. Once combined and attached to your head mount, the goggles can be activated or deactivated with a simple hotkey, provided they have sufficient battery power. You can also adjust their position using the context menu or a dedicated ‘Flip NVG’ hotkey.

Each goggle model offers identical functionality, with their visual appearance being the primary differentiator. The mod ensures you have options to match your preferred aesthetic while maintaining tactical effectiveness.

Customization and Discovery

The sandbox options allow for fine-tuning the experience. You can adjust the spawn rates for all new items, ensuring they fit seamlessly into your game’s difficulty. Battery longevity can also be tweaked to suit your playstyle. All night vision gear can be found in military locations and army surplus stores, always containing a partially charged battery.

With this mod, the darkness is no longer an insurmountable obstacle, transforming your Project Zomboid experience into a more versatile and engaging survival challenge.
