This mod aims to alleviate the resource strain associated with constructing substantial fencing, allowing you to focus more on survival and less on dismantling.
What are Fencing Kits?
Fencing Kits provide a pre-packaged solution for creating sturdy, wired fences. Instead of gathering individual components from disparate sources, a single Fencing Kit can be unbundled to yield essential building materials. This makes the process of establishing a secure perimeter significantly more efficient.
Unpacking Your Defense
Upon unbundling a Fencing Kit, you’ll receive a valuable haul of:
- 12 Metal Pipes
- 1 Chain Roll (equivalent to 25 units of wire)
These components are sufficient to construct three large, wired fences. However, remember that constructing these fences requires proficiency in metalworking. You’ll need access to a propane torch, a welding mask, and the knowledge found within Metalwork Magazine Vol. 3. These essential items are not included with the Fencing Kits themselves and must be acquired separately. The mod also allows you to re-bundle kits if needed.
Utilizing Your New Resources
Using a Fencing Kit is straightforward. Simply right-click the item to unbundle it. The chain roll can be used directly for wire, or it can be further processed using a saw and hammer to yield scrap metal. With the necessary tools and knowledge, you can then construct your fences via the metalworking context tab.
Finding Fencing Kits
These valuable kits can be discovered in various locations throughout the Project Zomboid world. While they are most commonly found in large warehouses, typically in quantities of three to five, they also have a rare chance to spawn in farming crates, garages, and tool store containers.
Durability and Compatibility
The large wired fences and large pole fences constructed using this mod boast a substantial 700 hit points, which increases to 800 with the Handy trait. While these defenses are strong, they are comparable to other high-level defensive structures. Fencing Kits is compatible with existing saves, but to find new loot, you will need to explore newly generated areas of the map.
