Dig Worms
Digging Deeper for Worms in Project Zomboid
Tired of the repetitive grind for essential fishing and trapping bait in Project Zomboid? The humble worm, a vital resource for survival, often requires tedious actions that expose you to unnecessary risks. This mod streamlines the process, allowing you to focus more on surviving the zombie apocalypse and less on the meticulous digging of soil.
A More Efficient Way to Gather Bait
The core of this modification introduces a new context menu option: “Dig Worms.” With this enabled, your survivor can continuously dig in a patch of ground specifically for worms, eliminating the creation of empty furrows. You’ll still expend calories and gain exhaustion, but you’ll only yield worms and the satisfying knowledge that you’re not wasting time. A shovel or any digging tool is required to utilize this new function, maintaining a level of realism within the game’s mechanics.
Balancing the Dig
Concerned about game balance? This mod has been designed with thoughtful consideration:
- The time taken for a single worm-digging iteration matches the combined time of digging a furrow and then removing it.
- Calorie consumption remains unchanged.
- Exhaustion levels are consistent with the original mechanics.
- The chance of finding a worm per dig is slightly increased during rainfall, a logical enhancement that reflects natural conditions.
The primary benefit is the removal of monotonous, repetitive actions, allowing for a smoother and more engaging gameplay experience.
Added Conveniences for Furrow Management
Beyond the improved worm digging, this mod also addresses the annoyance of unwanted furrows. A new “Remove furrow” cursor has been implemented. This allows for a much quicker way to clear away any furrows you no longer need, further streamlining your interactions with the environment and reducing the time spent on menial tasks.
This modification offers a significant quality-of-life improvement for any Project Zomboid player who relies on worms for their survival strategy. By optimizing the gathering process and providing better tools for managing terrain, players can spend more time engaged in critical survival activities.
