Are you tired of your Project Zomboid survivor cowering in fear after facing down hordes of the undead? Does the sight of a single shambler send them into a panic, despite a trail of zombie corpses behind them? If so, the Become Brave mod is designed to address that very frustration, allowing your characters to develop a hard-earned resilience.

Earning Your Courage

This mod introduces a system where your character can gradually overcome their fear through sheer experience. After dispatching a significant number of zombies, typically around 350 through melee or firearm combat (excluding fire-based kills), there’s a chance your survivor will begin to develop brave tendencies. This probability increases with every zombie kill. For those who push their limits even further, reaching a milestone of 1500 zombie kills will automatically grant them the “Brave” trait.

Factors Influencing Bravery

The development of bravery isn’t solely based on kill count. Several existing traits and occupations within Project Zomboid can influence the likelihood of your character becoming brave. Traits such as “Hunter” can positively impact this chance, while negative traits like “Cowardly,” “Agoraphobic,” “Claustrophobic,” “Hemophobic,” and “Pacifist” will make it more challenging. Similarly, certain occupations are considered to have a higher predisposition towards bravery, including Police Officer, Fireman, Park Ranger, Security Guard, Doctor, and Nurse.
