Project Zomboid: Maze Runner – An Extreme Test of Survival
Awaken with no memory, trapped within a colossal labyrinth. This mod for Project Zomboid plunges you into an extreme trial of wit, exploration, and sheer survival, heavily inspired by the intensity of the Maze Runner concept.
Navigate a Modified World
The original game world has been meticulously altered to create a singular, formidable entrance to the maze. This modification is designed to be compatible with Build 42, featuring an adapted lighting system that complements the new Build 42 restrictions. As you delve deeper, you’ll discover new tiles, atmospheric environmental sounds, and collectible notes that flesh out the lore of your desperate situation.
Key Features for Your Survival
- Build 42 Compatibility (Experimental Version)
- A Single, Defined Entrance to the Labyrinth
- Integrated Key Mechanics for Sectioned Door Access
- Enhanced In-Game Map System for Guidance
- Adjusted Zombie Spawns (Influenced by Build 42 Internal Changes)
- New Tiles, Ambient Sounds, and Lore Notes
- Radiation Zone in the Final Section (Requires Vanilla Gas Mask)
Overcoming Obstacles
Progress through the labyrinth is gated by a key system. You’ll need to meticulously search for these keys, which are strategically placed within laboratories, to unlock your path forward. The mod also features an improved internal map system to help you track your progress and avoid getting hopelessly lost. Be aware that zombie spawns have been reduced, and their behavior is influenced by internal changes within Build 42.
New Challenges and Fixes
This mod introduces new gameplay elements, including a radiation zone in the final section that necessitates the use of a vanilla gas mask. Several issues have been addressed, such as the correct display of the labyrinth layout on the map and the ability to pick up previously unobtainable Katana spawns. Additionally, frustratingly placed “hidden box” tiles that blocked corners have been removed.
Important Considerations
As this is a test version, players may encounter occasional errors or unexpected behaviors. The developers appreciate your understanding and encourage feedback to help refine the experience. The labyrinth’s lights are designed to activate as you approach them for the first time, but they will turn off when you leave the area or exit the game. You can manually reactivate them by right-clicking on the lamp. The toxic gas, introduced in the second labyrinth, can be deactivated via ventilation engines, with the exception of Laboratory 7. Exiting the labyrinth is possible, but finding the necessary keys is paramount.
