Innovative Cluster Designs

The mod presents two distinct starting clusters, each offering a unique gameplay experience:

• Stratified Core Cluster: This classic-style cluster features a larger starting asteroid with your spawn biome nestled in a central, flat layer. Surrounding biomes like oil, metal, frozen, and radioactive are separated by formidable magma barriers. While insulated tunnels offer a safe passage through some internal barriers, you’ll need strategic planning to conquer the remaining molten divides.
• Stratified Shard Cluster: Tailored for the Spaced Out! expansion, this cluster begins on a more compact layered asteroid. Thinner magma walls protect the essential early-game resources. This cluster expands outwards to a collection of other layered planetoids, each holding specialized biomes and resources, including oil at the bottom, tundra, marsh, and jungle surfaces.

Expanded Planetary Options

Beyond the starting clusters, Layered Planetoids significantly expands the available companion asteroids. These optional planetoids, some requiring specific DLCs, offer a diverse range of layered biomes, from volcanic and radioactive zones to icy oceans and prehistoric jungles. This ensures a constantly evolving and challenging landscape for your colony.

The Laccoliths World Trait

For those who prefer to customize their worlds further, the Laccoliths world trait can be applied to other asteroids. This trait dynamically restructures an asteroid into flat biome layers, bisected by thick magma barriers reinforced with abyssalite to mitigate heat transfer. It aims to preserve the asteroid’s original resources and features while introducing the signature layered structure.

Customizable Beginnings

The mod also offers flexibility in your starting conditions. Before generating a new game, you can select your preferred spawn biome from options like Sandstone, Forest, Swamp, or Frozen Forest. This allows for a tailored initial experience that complements your chosen cluster and playstyle.
