When a Duplicant enters, the inner chamber is sealed, the atmosphere is evacuated, and the Duplicant passes through. Crucially, no gas or liquid exchange occurs between the two sides, preserving the distinct atmospheric conditions of each area. Unlike liquid airlocks, this system completely avoids the “Sopping Wet” debuff, and it won’t freeze or boil your Duplicants (though the doors themselves can melt!). Important Considerations

While powerful, it’s important to note a few caveats. Loss of power during operation can trap Duplicants, and these doors cannot be manually set to “Open.” Duplicants will need to hold their breath during transit, making Atmo Suits advisable when traversing unbreathable areas. While the chambers are typically vacuumed, some residual heat transfer can occur through the backwall, though the Insulated version greatly mitigates this.
