Sachsenbad Dresden

Experience Historic Architecture in Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic with the Sachsenbad Dresden Mod

Bring a piece of architectural history to your Soviet Republic with the Sachsenbad Dresden mod. This meticulously crafted addition introduces the iconic Sachsenbad, a grand public bathhouse that once served as the vibrant communal heart of Dresden’s Pieschen district. Completed in 1929 and designed by Paul Wolf, a proponent of the New Objectivity architectural movement, the Sachsenbad embodies the principles of modest, neat, and symmetrical design characteristic of classical modernist aesthetics.

A Glimpse into Pieschen’s Past

While the full vision for Pieschen’s communal center was never realized, the mod faithfully recreates the elements that were constructed: the impressive Sachsenbad itself, an adjacent housing block, and a library. The Sachsenbad stands as a testament to its era, a luxurious public bathing facility that served Dresden for nearly sixty years. Although it saw minor renovations during the GDR period, its eventual decline post-reunification is a story shared by many significant 20th-century structures.

Architectural Authenticity and Modder Ingenuity

The mod offers a choice between a monolithic version of the Sachsenbad and one featuring the annex that was intended to connect to a planned outdoor pool. To enhance the historical accuracy, a skinpack is available to replicate the building’s appearance with facade art, neon lighting, and text added between 1936 and 1942. Recognizing the complexities of building placement within Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic, the included library is designed to be invisible, simplifying the integration of these new structures into your republic without forcing you to perfectly align multiple buildings.

Key Features of the Sachsenbad Dresden Mod:

• Sachsenbad (Monolithic version): The standalone, imposing public bathhouse.
• Sachsenbad (With Annex): Featuring the connection intended for a never-built outdoor pool.
• Housing Block: Authentic residential architecture to complement the public facilities.
• Invisible Library: Seamlessly integrated, removing placement frustrations.
• Historically Inspired Design: Reflecting the New Objectivity architectural style.
• Optional Skinpack: For period-accurate facade details.

Integrate the Sachsenbad Dresden mod into your game and enrich your Soviet Republic with a touch of elegant, historical urban design.
