Monotone’s Track Builders (updated for Early Start)

Enhance Your Soviet Republic Railways with Monotone’s Track Builders

For dedicated players of Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic looking to expand their railway construction capabilities, a new set of track-building tools has arrived. This mod, updated to support the Early Start feature, introduces a comprehensive collection of cranes designed to streamline and diversify your track laying operations.

A Robust Selection of Track-Building Equipment

This mod brings together four original crane designs from Monotone, alongside two brand-new additions specifically balanced to compete with the recently introduced BR80 heavy track builders in the Early Start environment. Whether you’re operating a Soviet or Western-style republic, you’ll find suitable machinery for the job.

The Soviet offerings include:

  • PK-1: A level 32 track-building crane, available from 1861 to 1961.
  • PK-6: A more advanced level 42 crane, accessible from 1920 to 1971.

For those favouring Western aesthetics and technology, the mod provides:

  • 10 Ton Steam Crane: Available at level 26, from 1861 to 1961.
  • 36 Ton Steam Crane: A more substantial option at level 42, available between 1910 and 1961.
  • Peckett 0-4-0 Medium Steam Crane: A powerful level 100 crane, available from 1885 to 1945.
  • GWR 5700 Heavy Steam Crane: The top-tier level 180 crane, usable from 1929 to 1975.

Strategic Advantages for Your Construction Projects

All these new machines are coal-powered, ensuring they fit seamlessly into the existing resource management of Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic. Notably, the PK-1 and the 10 Ton Steam Crane come in a disassembled crate form, adding a layer of logistical planning to their deployment.

In terms of performance, the Peckett 0-4-0 is designed to be a competitive alternative to the short BR80 track builder, offering an earlier access point. The GWR 5700, while not quite matching the outright power of the long BR80, compensates with significantly faster speeds on straight track sections, providing a distinct strategic advantage for rapid expansion. These additions, created by Monotone with permission, offer valuable new tools for shaping the future of your Soviet Republic’s infrastructure.
