Enhance your Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic with a unique piece of architectural history. This mod brings the iconic “House with a Clock” from Novosibirsk to your burgeoning industrial state, offering a glimpse into early Soviet urban planning and social ideals. Originally constructed between 1931 and 1934, this building is a prime example of Constructivist architecture and was a pioneering example of a gallery-style residential building.
A Symbol of Social Experimentation
The “House with a Clock” was designed with radical social concepts in mind. Its gallery-style layout, with apartments featuring single-sided windows, was innovative for its time. A key feature was the absence of kitchens in individual apartments, reflecting the vision of collective dining in communal canteens. The ground floors were intended for social amenities, including assembly halls and reading rooms, embodying the idea of a “social culture service” building. This mod allows you to implement these fascinating architectural and social ideas within your game.

Architectural Significance and Historical Context
The building’s design was influenced by the utopian ideals of the communal house movement, emphasizing collectivism and the rejection of bourgeois private property. A distinctive feature, added in 1937, is the prominent clock located in the building’s corner tower, giving it its memorable name. In its original context, the ground floor housed a famous grocery store, further integrating community services. Recognized globally as one of the finest examples of avant-garde architecture, the “House with a Clock” is now available to add historical depth and unique functionality to your Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic.
