Heroic Weapons: A tModLoader Companion Mod

Elevate your tModLoader experience with Heroic Weapons, an official add-on designed to complement Block’s Leveling Mod. This mod introduces a curated selection of unique “Hero Weapons,” each boasting a distinct playstyle centered around a secondary action or attack. These aren’t just temporary power-ups; Hero Weapons are intended to be your primary armament throughout an entire playthrough, synergizing seamlessly with the leveling system of Block’s Leveling Mod to scale in power as you progress.

Unlocking Your Heroic Potential

Getting started with Heroic Weapons is straightforward, with slightly different approaches for new and existing playthroughs.

New Playthroughs (Recommended):

  • New characters will begin their journey with a Medallion of Legends, a crafting component for various specialized Hero Weapon Medallions.
  • Carefully examine each Medallion’s description to choose your preferred weapon.
  • Once decided, craft the corresponding Medallion and right-click it to receive your chosen Hero Weapon and an Arsenal Altar. This action is irreversible, so choose wisely!
  • The Arsenal Altar is crucial for managing your weapon’s unique Skill Perks and can be used to craft a new Medallion of Legends if needed later in the game.

Mid-Playthrough Integration:

While less ideal, you can integrate Heroic Weapons into an ongoing playthrough. Craft an Arsenal Altar using Stone Blocks and Fallen Stars, then use it to craft a Medallion of Legends from Gold Coins. From there, follow the new playthrough steps to acquire your first Hero Weapon.

Meet the Arsenal

Heroic Weapons currently offers six distinct options:

  • Sticky Blaster (Ranged)
  • Jade Edge (Melee)
  • Staff of Sacrifice (Magic)
  • Striker Beads (Summon)
  • Polynail (Throwing)
  • Hardlock (Ranged)

More weapons are planned for future updates, promising even more diverse gameplay possibilities.

Mastering Skill Perks

Each Hero Weapon features a unique “Skill Perk” system, akin to a skill tree. With nine unique perks across two tiers, you can acquire a total of 18 distinct upgrades. Skill Points, earned through leveling and prestige, are invested to unlock these enhancements. Since not all perks can be acquired simultaneously, strategic choices are key. The best part? Skill Points can be freely respecced, allowing you to experiment and adapt your build to any challenge.

Compatibility and Community

Heroic Weapons is designed for broad compatibility with other tModLoader mods, as its mechanics are contained within its own items. While not extensively tested, it has been coded with multiplayer in mind. The mod is also open-source under the GNU GPLv3 license, encouraging community contributions and modifications. Feedback on balancing and design is highly valued, as the developers aim to refine this experimental venture.
