Cult of Blood, an Elder Scrolls Style Vampirism Mod

Embrace the Night: Dive into Vampire Existence with Cult of Blood for tModLoader

Prepare to experience tModLoader in a whole new light – or rather, darkness. Cult of Blood introduces a comprehensive vampirism system, drawing inspiration from classic challenges and beloved fantasy tropes. This mod offers a unique gameplay loop, transforming you into a creature of the night with potent abilities and equally significant weaknesses.

The Sanguine Transformation

Becoming a vampire isn’t as simple as a single click. You must first contract the Porphyric Hemophilia disease. This can occur through a few distinct methods:

  • Encountering bats presents a chance to contract the disease.
  • Directly engaging with existing vampires guarantees affliction.
  • A more tactical approach involves macerating warm-blooded creatures at an anvil. This process yields Blood Vials, which offer substantial life regeneration and a small chance to infect you with Porphyric Hemophilia. Enemies found during Blood Moon events are particularly potent sources for these vials.

Life as a Vampire

Once Porphyric Hemophilia takes hold, your natural life regeneration ceases, though other forms of healing remain functional. This affliction lasts for a short duration. If allowed to expire, you will irrevocably transform into a vampire. For those who find the allure of eternal night too strong, the Nurse can offer a cure before the transformation is complete, or vampires can purchase Purgeblood Salts from the Witch Doctor to stave off their curse, albeit at a significant cost.

Boon and Bane of the Undead

As a vampire, you gain powerful advantages, particularly when underground or during the night. These benefits are amplified during Blood Moons and eclipses, and further enhanced by Blood Vials. You’ll absorb the life force of fallen foes, with true melee kills restoring health. Blood Vials become even more potent, offering immense regeneration and replenishing half your maximum health. Furthermore, you’ll gain immunity to many sickness-related debuffs.

However, this power comes at a steep price. Daylight becomes your enemy, causing blindness and burning, with intensity increasing as the sun rises. Specialized items, like Sunscreen sold by the Merchant, can mitigate this. You’ll also take triple damage from holy sources and suffer from burning holy fire in the Hallow. Healing potions become half as effective, and shop prices increase by 20%, with Purgeblood Salts being exceptionally costly.

Cult of Blood provides a compelling and challenging new playstyle for tModLoader, forcing you to adapt and strategize around your newfound vampiric nature. For an added layer of difficulty, try naming your character “Dracula” or “Alucard” and see if you can survive the night.
