A New Dimension to the Catch

The most significant change introduced by Better Fishing is its innovative fishing minigame. When a fish bites, you’ll no longer instantly reel in your prize. Instead, a challenging minigame appears, featuring a moving green bar that players must navigate across a larger spectrum. Successfully timing your click when the green bar aligns with a special “?” symbol rewards you with a specific catch, be it a coveted fish or a valuable crate. Miss the mark, however, and your fishing line will snap, sending you back to square one.

Optimized Quests and Rewards

Better Fishing also overhauls the Angler’s quest system. Gone are the days of arbitrary daily rewards. Now, you can choose a specific quest reward once per day, each tied to specific items you need to catch. Furthermore, normal quests now reset much faster, with a 5-minute cooldown instead of waiting for the dawn of a new day. This allows for more consistent progression and quicker acquisition of desired rewards.

Unlock New Potential with Gear and Bait

To complement the new mechanics, Better Fishing introduces a suite of accessories designed to aid your fishing endeavors:

• Fishing Gloves: Extend the target area within the minigame.
• Soothing Lure: Slows down the green bar, providing more time to react.
• Lucky Sock: Grants an additional possible catch slot in the minigame.
• Fish Handler’s Gloves: A powerful combination of the effects of the other accessories.

Additionally, a potent new bait, Hellfire Bait, is available. This explosive bait dramatically increases your chances of multiple catches, dropping up to ten items at the bobber. It can be acquired through specific quest rewards or by opening Obsidian and Hellstone crates.

A Smoother, More Versatile Experience

Beyond the core mechanics, the Better Fishing mod has undergone significant improvements, including fixes for multiplayer synchronization, a more robust saving system for quest data, and enhanced compatibility with other mods that introduce stackable catches.
