Introducing Ysd and Tainted Ysd
The mod brings two distinct characters to the world of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth: Ysd and their Tainted counterpart. Ysd is immediately accessible and comes equipped with a special pocket active item, the “Untuned Piano.” This versatile item allows Ysd to play a variety of 16 distinct melodies, each mirroring the abilities of a familiar character from the base game, along with a passive melody. The cost for these musical powers varies by charge. Furthermore, Ysd brings a unique twist to the starting room of each floor, spawning three pickup shop items, always including a battery. Owning Ysd’s Birthright doubles the charging speed of the Untuned Piano, making its powerful melodies even more readily available.
The Tainted version, T. Ysd, offers a drastically different playstyle. Unlocked by acquiring the Wire Coat Hanger from the Death Certificate as Ysd, T. Ysd foregoes traditional tear-shooting for a more visceral combat approach. Instead, they charge and hurl Wire Coat Hangers. These projectiles deal damage on impact, can hang suspended in the room, or become lodged in walls. If the maximum number of Wire Coat Hangers is present in a room, the oldest one will automatically recall, dealing significant damage to enemies in its path. T. Ysd also possesses a pocket active item, “Triple Coat Hanger,” capable of recalling all currently deployed hangers. Their Birthright enhances this by causing Wire Coat Hangers to eject towards the nearest enemy upon recall.
New Items and a Rune to Discover
Beyond the new characters, the Ysd mod generously adds several new items that don’t require unlocking:
