Meet the Vitiated Cast

Anathema introduces six distinct “Vitiated” characters, each a twisted reflection of the original lineup. These new protagonists come equipped with their own special skills and mechanics, demanding new strategies and approaches to overcome the game’s challenges.

A Wealth of New Content

This mod is packed with content designed to extend your playtime and offer new objectives. Key features include:

• Six entirely new playable characters.
• Forty-four unique unlocks, with seven per character, comprising items, trinkets, consumables, and meta-unlocks.
• Two new challenges, each offering additional rewards.

The developers have stated that the mod is still under active development, with plans for more characters and unlocks in the future. While some bugs and balance issues may be present due to the team’s size, they are committed to refining the experience.

Character Spotlights

Each Vitiated character offers a distinct gameplay experience:

Broken Child, Prone to Sin

This character manipulates dice mechanics, allowing for more frequent rerolls but at the cost of potential item loss due to sin-based afflictions. Managing resources and understanding the risks of Greed, Envy, and Sloth is crucial.

Bloody Reaper, Cursed by God

Facing harsher item quality drops, this character relies on the Upgrading Bag to improve found items. Their unique eye allows for direct pickup extraction from enemies, streamlining resource acquisition.

Avatar of Wrath, Who Suffered an Awful Accident…

Sporting a unique gun mechanism, this character’s Brimstone attacks consume ammo. However, a skill-check during reloading can yield bonus ammo, damage increases, and debuffs for nearby enemies.

Mother of All Cambions

This character’s basic attack is replaced by a C-section-like ability. Deployed fetuses can act as stationary turrets, and a pocket active allows for recalling or sacrificing items to enhance their numbers.

Angel of the End, the Bringer of Rapture

Utilizing an Angelic Trumpet, this character consumes items to gain potent, stackable buffs. Failing to actively manage these buffs can lead to unwanted transformations.

God’s Most Faithful Servant

Focused on conversion, this character summons wisps that can indoctrinate enemies into followers. Health is replaced by static hearts that function as active item charges, with followers acting as a unique form of protection.
