Alternate Hairstyles!
Give Your Binding of Isaac Characters a Fresh New Look with Alternate Hairstyles!
Introducing a Touch of Vanity to the Basement
Ever felt that your favorite characters in The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth could use a little something extra to stand out in the grim depths of the basement? The “Alternate Hairstyles!” mod introduces a subtle yet impactful cosmetic enhancement, bringing a touch of personalization to the roguelike experience. Inspired by the randomized haircuts of Eden, this mod applies a similar system to other beloved characters, offering them a chance to sport a variety of new, themed hairstyles.
What to Expect from Alternate Hairstyles!
This mod injects a delightful surprise into your runs by giving characters a chance to sport a different ‘do’. The core mechanic is designed to add variety without fundamentally altering gameplay. While the original hairstyles remain the most frequent appearance, you’ll occasionally see your chosen character sporting a fresh style during their desperate battles. This ensures that the core visual identity of each character is preserved while offering a fun, cosmetic twist.
Current Styles Available:
- Bethany: Now has a chance to sport Pigtails.
- Eve: Can now appear with Curly Hair or Long Bangs.
- Isaac: Features new options including Hair! and Shaved styles.
- Tainted Isaac: Can now sport a Partially Shaved look.
- Judas: May be seen with a Scruffy hairstyle.
- Maggy: Is now able to wear her hair in a Ponytail.
Designed for Compatibility and Future Growth
One of the great aspects of “Alternate Hairstyles!” is its consideration for existing mods. The mod intentionally leaves the default hairstyles intact, meaning it won’t conflict with other cosmetic replacements you might have installed. Furthermore, the character sheets themselves remain untouched. This means that the visual representation of your character during item pickups, active item usage, or pill consumption will revert to the default, a behavior the creator acknowledges might evolve in future updates. The mod is presented as a proof of concept, with plans for more hairstyles and potentially even customizable weightings for how often each style appears in the future.
