Elevators of Variety 2: Injecting Freshness into Streets of Rogue

Prepare to experience Streets of Rogue in a whole new way with Elevators of Variety 2, the much-anticipated follow-up to the original mod that expands the possibilities of your city’s vertical transit. This isn’t just more of the same; Elevators of Variety 2 introduces a significant overhaul to how elevators function, making each ascent and descent a potentially unique encounter.

District-Specific Designs

This mod thoughtfully segments its new additions by integrating 50 all-new elevator “chunks” – 25 for entry points and 25 for exits. The key innovation here lies in the district-specific theming. Instead of generic options, you’ll find elevators tailored to specific areas of the city. Five distinct starts and exits have been crafted for the Park and Downtown districts, while Uptown also receives its own unique set. The Slums and Industrial districts share a combined set, reflecting the game’s interconnected layout.

Subtle Improvements and Unexpected Challenges

Beyond the overtly themed elevators, Elevators of Variety 2 also includes ten mirrored chunks of familiar alleyways and common structures. While these might seem inconspicuous, they are designed to subtly enhance the visual flow and contours of your game environments, adding a layer of polish you might not even consciously notice. However, be warned: some of these additions are designed to increase the challenge. Certain starting chunks may place hostile NPCs like soldiers, gangsters, or law enforcement in your immediate vicinity, demanding quick reflexes, especially if you’re playing as a character with less-than-friendly intentions.

New Mission Dynamics

The mod truly shines with its introduction of six new exit chunks that transform reaching your destination into a mini-mission. Two of these challenging exits are located in the Slums/Industrial shared area, one in Downtown, and three in Uptown. These require players to overcome specific obstacles or complete objectives before they can make their escape via the elevator, adding a fresh layer of tactical gameplay to familiar scenarios.

Key Features:

  • 50 new elevator chunks (25 starts, 25 exits).
  • District-specific elevator designs for Park, Downtown, and Uptown.
  • Shared elevator themes for Slums and Industrial districts.
  • Subtle environmental enhancements with mirrored alleyway chunks.
  • Challenging exit chunks that turn elevator access into a mission.
  • Starting chunks that introduce immediate NPC threats.

Please Note: Some chunks may feature floor layouts near elevators that can interfere with rescue missions or neutralize convinced targets. This is a known limitation that can be mitigated by avoiding the use of those specific chunks.
