The Vacant
Unleash the Vacant in Slay the Spire
A spectral entity, bound by an ancient artifact, now traverses the treacherous floors of the Spire. This is the plight of the Vacant, a new playable character in Slay the Spire, driven by a singular desire: freedom from its ethereal prison. This mod introduces a unique playstyle centered around deck manipulation and embracing powerful, yet risky, mechanics.
Master the Art of Milling
The core of the Vacant’s strategy lies in its mastery over “Milling” – moving cards from your draw pile to your discard pile. However, the Vacant brings a twist to this familiar mechanic.
- Ricochet: Certain cards, when Milled, return to your hand, allowing for potent combos and immediate impact.
- Unnate Cards: Discover cards hidden at the bottom of your draw pile, requiring you to strategically dig through your deck to access their unique power.
- Soul Powers: Enhance your Milling capabilities with unique Powers like “Forge Soul” and “Cleanse Soul,” transforming the act of milling into a powerful offensive or defensive tool.
Embrace the Void
The Vacant can harness the chilling power of the Void itself. This mechanic rewards an empty draw pile, encouraging careful planning and meticulous card management. Understanding how to empty your deck and when to capitalize on the Void’s power is crucial for survival and escape.
A Reckless Path to Power
The Vacant’s scaling is as volatile as it is potent. Many of its most powerful cards come with significant drawbacks, including self-inflicted debuffs. However, the Vacant is not without recourse. The character possesses numerous ways to both leverage these detrimental effects for gain and to cleanse or prevent them entirely. Embracing risk through cards that grant “Hollow” bonuses, while managing your health with sustain and recovery options, can lead to glorious victory.
Channeling the Soul Through Gemstones
Another facet of the Vacant’s power comes from potent “Gemstones.” These arcane objects allow the Vacant to channel its Soul into a variety of powerful effects. Gemstones provide buffs at the start of your turn, but can be “Chipped” away at, granting their buffs more rapidly at the cost of the Gemstone itself. This offers a dynamic choice between sustained advantage and immediate, powerful bursts.
