Savannah

Transforming Deserts into Thriving Savannahs in Civilization VI

The world of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is vast and varied, but sometimes, the arid expanses of desert tiles can feel a bit homogenous. This mod introduces the Savannah terrain feature, offering a much-needed bridge between lush plains and barren wasteland, bringing a richer, more dynamic landscape to your game.

Embracing the Savannah

Savannahs, a biome covering a significant portion of Earth’s land surface, are characterized by a mix of grasslands and open woodlands. This mod captures that essence by allowing Savannahs to spawn on desert tiles. This not only makes previously less useful tiles more engaging but also opens up opportunities for a wider array of resources to flourish. Imagine transitioning from fertile fields to a semi-arid expanse dotted with valuable commodities – that’s the promise of the Savannah.

Key Features of the Savannah Mod

This modification enhances the gameplay experience with several impactful additions:

  • Savannah terrain can now appear on flat Desert tiles, providing players with a base yield of +1 Food and +1 Production.
  • Savannah tiles can be improved with Camps. Importantly, bonuses that typically apply to Camps will now specifically target Camps built on resources within a Savannah.
  • The mod ensures compatibility with the strategic view and is designed to function seamlessly with any map script.
  • Savannahs boast a custom resource allowance, drawing from both desert and woodland biomes, and are compatible with many popular resource-adding mods.
  • A unique model is included for Pastures built on resources located within Savannah tiles.
  • When the Gran Colombia & Maya DLC is active, Savannahs can experience wildfires, adding a dynamic disaster element to the terrain.

A More Dynamic Resource Landscape

Beyond the base yields, Savannahs can host a variety of resources. Expect to find bonus resources like Cattle, Deer, and Sheep, alongside strategic resources such as Uranium. Luxury resources like Coffee, Diamonds, Ivory, Spices, and Amber can also spawn here. The mod further extends this by supporting a curated list of resources from other popular mods, ensuring a rich and varied resource pool across your empire.

To truly appreciate the visual transformation, ensure that “High-Detail Clutter” is activated within the graphics options. For an even more immersive experience, consider combining this mod with Vegetation Diversity to create seamless transitions between Savannahs, Woods, and Rainforests.
