Enhance Your Civilization VI Experience with Real Fixes

Tired of encountering those persistent bugs and glitches that disrupt your carefully crafted strategies in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI? The Real Fixes mod is here to smooth out those rough edges, offering a collection of corrections compiled over years of dedicated gameplay. This mod focuses primarily on technical improvements, ensuring a more stable and consistent experience without altering the core mechanics in a way that permanently changes your save files. You can freely enable or disable Real Fixes at any point during your campaign.

Addressing Gameplay Imbalances

While many of the fixes within Real Fixes are subtle technical adjustments, several directly impact gameplay, resolving inconsistencies and strengthening the AI. These corrections ensure that game mechanics function as intended, leading to a more balanced and engaging experience.

Key gameplay fixes include:

  • Ensuring units like War Carts and Warrior Monks correctly receive the Alpine Training bonus from Matterhorn.
  • Adjusting Nzinga’s AI behavior to prevent her from aggressively settling on distant continents.
  • Correcting barbarian attack forces on higher difficulties to utilize appropriate unit types for city assaults.
  • Refining Tokugawa’s leader ability to accurately apply to districts within cities up to six tiles from the capital.
  • Restoring the Hagia Sophia’s bonus to only affect Missionaries and Apostles, as described in its tooltip.
  • Ensuring the Strategic Air Force Policy now correctly applies to all modern and atomic aircraft, as well as aircraft carriers.
  • Resolving issues with the UNITAI_BUILD tags, aiding the AI in constructing districts like National Parks.
  • Confirming that Area of Effect abilities like Arrow Storm and Marauding do not incorrectly target districts.
  • Adjusting the yields of Great Works originating from the Babylon DLC for accuracy.
  • Providing complete support for the CLASS_ALL_ERAS tag, allowing Great Generals to properly benefit Warrior Monks, Nihangs, and Vampires.
  • Adding missing technologies and projects to the AI’s favored items list when pursuing a Science Victory.
  • Fixing a bug with Ibn Khaldun that previously granted only half of the intended bonus yields.

Tweaking Start Biases

Real Fixes also introduces some adjustments to Civilization VI’s start biases, which you can opt into or out of. These changes are designed to offer alternative starting conditions for certain civilizations. The mod is compatible with the Better Balanced Starts (BBS) mod, provided you are using a specific version. If you prefer not to use these start bias modifications, a simple parameter within the mod files allows you to disable them. By default, without BBS, you’ll find subtle shifts such as new weak biases for Georgia and Scotland towards hills, and India and Sumeria towards flat terrain, alongside boosted biases for England’s strategic resources and Australia’s improvements. All other civilizations remain unaffected by these start bias tweaks.
