The HongYuan Civilization: A Financial Juggernaut

The core of this mod lies in the HongYuan civilization itself, boasting the powerful “Gold as Horses, Jade as Halls” ability. This trait dramatically enhances your economic potential:

• Increased Trade Route Capacity: Gain an extra Trade Route for every Commercial Hub you construct.
• Enriched Trade: Trade Routes deliver a significant boost of +2 Gold for each Specialty District at their destination.
• Resource Wealth: All Strategic Resources and Plantations within your borders provide an impressive +3 Gold and +1 Production.
• Treasury Growth: Every turn, your treasury expands by a sum equivalent to 6% of its current total.

Accompanying this economic powerhouse is the unique “Heishou” unit. These formidable soldiers offer exceptional mobility and a unique combat advantage, matching the strength of your most powerful existing unit while ignoring enemy Zones of Control and starting with a free promotion. However, their potent capabilities come with a high upkeep cost that escalates with each Heishou produced.

The HongYuan also introduce the “Apothecary” district, a replacement for the Commercial Hub. This district not only costs less to produce but also generates Gold from adjacent Plantations, Woods, and Rainforest tiles. Furthermore, it grants valuable Great Merchant and Great Scientist points, and provides a significant healing bonus for damaged friendly units garrisoned within the city.

Leaders of Influence: Hong Lu and Xi Chun

The mod features two distinct leaders, each with their own game-changing abilities. Hong Lu, with her “Land of Illusion” ability, turns faith into a powerful asset. Floodplains, Coast, and Lake tiles provide extra Faith, cities are protected from flood damage, and Holy Sites gain substantial adjacency bonuses from these tiles, while also being built faster. Crucially, all district buildings can be purchased with Faith, and you’ll gain extra Great Prophet points.

Xi Chun’s “Rupture-breathing Resolve” focuses on combat advantage. Her units gain a significant Combat Strength bonus when facing stronger foes, and defeating an enemy grants Science and Culture based on the fallen unit’s strength. Additionally, researching key technologies unlocks a Governor Title and introduces the unique Governor, Wei.

The mod also features a second version of Hong Lu, “The Lord of HongYuan,” whose “The Heishou Lord” ability offers significant buffs to the Heishou unit, including increased Combat Strength and Movement. Founding your first city grants a free, maintenance-free Heishou, and each Heishou you command bolsters your cities’ Production and Faith output, while also accelerating their experience gain in combat.
