Korea: Kim Il Sung

Korea: Kim Il Sung

Lead a New Era of Korea with Kim Il Sung in Civilization VI

Experience a dramatically different Korean civilization in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI with the introduction of Kim Il Sung as an alternative leader. This mod meticulously crafts an authentic representation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, offering a unique gameplay path for those seeking a distinct strategic challenge.

The Visionary Leader of Juche

Kim Il Sung, the founding father of the DPRK, brings his unique ideology and strategic vision to the forefront. His leadership is defined by the “Juche” trait, which offers significant military advantages during wartime.

Juche Trait Mechanics

  • Land combat units gain +2 Movement and +5 Combat Strength when attacking within 10 turns of declaring war, fostering an aggressive early-game push.
  • However, these units suffer -5 Combat Strength when defending, demanding careful tactical positioning.
  • Encampments are bolstered with +1 Production and +2 Faith from nearby Korean land combat units.
  • Further city improvements include an additional +1 Food and +4 Gold when connected via a Trade Route to an ally with a matching Government type.

Agenda: National Reunification

Kim Il Sung’s agenda, “National Reunification,” compels players to maintain a substantial military force. He is driven to declare wars of reconquest and shows sympathy towards civilizations that have experienced territorial loss, while harboring disdain for those who have occupied foreign lands through conflict. This agenda encourages a proactive and often confrontational playstyle.

Enhanced Korean Experience

This mod also enhances the vanilla Korean civilization by incorporating a more comprehensive list of North Korean city names, applicable to both Seondeok and Sejong. Furthermore, to ensure historical iconographic accuracy, a standalone copy of the Korean civilization is created, featuring the North Korean flag as its emblem. This allows for Kim Il Sung’s Korea to be visually distinct, even when playing with duplicate civilization options enabled.

This modification requires the Rise and Fall expansion for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI and offers support for English, Korean, and Chinese languages. Prepare to forge a new path for Korea under the leadership of Kim Il Sung.
