Gift It To Me
Strengthen Your Allies with the “Gift It To Me” Mod for Civilization VI
Ever found yourself in a desperate situation in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, needing just a few more units to defend your borders or push an advantage? Or perhaps you’ve wanted to subtly bolster an ally against a common foe without revealing your direct involvement? The “Gift It To Me” mod for Civilization VI introduces a powerful new diplomatic and strategic option, allowing you to transfer units to other civilizations and city-states.
Empowerment Through Generosity
This mod opens up a world of new tactical possibilities. You can now directly aid allies who are struggling, send reinforcements to a city-state under siege, or even strengthen a rival of your enemies for proxy warfare. The ability to gift units extends to both human players in multiplayer and AI civilizations, adding a dynamic layer to inter-civilization relations.
What You Can Give
The “Gift It To Me” mod supports the gifting of a wide array of unit types, making it a versatile tool for support:
- All combat units, including land, sea, and air forces.
- Religious units, although AI recipients may discard them if they don’t align with their own religion.
- Essential support units like Medics and Military Engineers.
- Builders and Settlers can be gifted to major civilizations.
- Archaeologists are also available for gifting to major civs.
Notably, unique civilization units can also be gifted, offering a special strategic edge.
The Art of Gifting
Gifting is straightforward. Simply move your unit into the target player’s territory and activate the “Gift” button, found within the secondary unit actions panel. However, certain conditions apply to ensure balanced gameplay:
- The unit must be within the recipient’s territory.
- Specific units like religious units, settlers, and archaeologists cannot be gifted to city-states.
- Levied units are ineligible for gifting.
- Hungary has a special condition when gifting combat units to suzerain city-states, requiring gold as well.
- You cannot gift units to civilizations you are currently at war with.
- There’s a limit of five gifts per turn.
- Gifted units must have over 90% health.
- AI civilizations may dismantle gifted units if it negatively impacts their economy.
Diplomatic Ripples
Your generosity will not go unnoticed. Gifting units to a civilization at war may result in a warning from their enemy, and continued support can lead to a denouncement and grievances. Conversely, gifting to AI major civilizations can improve your diplomatic standing, offering a temporary opinion boost.
The “Gift It To Me” mod is compatible with the base game and all expansions, and is localized in multiple languages. It offers a fresh, strategic dimension to Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, encouraging cooperation and shrewd diplomacy.
