Buildable Roads
Buildable Roads Mod for Civilization VI
Are you finding yourself frustrated by the road-building limitations in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, particularly after researching Steam Power? This handy mod, aptly named “Buildable Roads,” addresses a common gameplay hurdle, allowing you to maintain your infrastructure with greater flexibility.
Overcoming Road-Building Roadblocks
In the base game of Civilization VI, once you unlock the ability to build Railroads, the trusty Military Engineer can no longer construct standard Roads. This can be a significant inconvenience, especially if you lack the resources for Railroads or simply prefer the foundational road network. The Buildable Roads mod rectifies this by re-enabling your Military Engineers to construct modern road types even after you’ve advanced beyond the need for basic thoroughfares.
How the Buildable Roads Mod Works
This mod introduces a streamlined process for road construction, ensuring your empire remains connected:
- Military Engineers can now build standard Roads even after technologies that unlock Railroads have been researched.
- If you have researched Steam Power (or equivalent technologies) but haven’t yet reached the Modern Era, you can build Industrial Roads using Gold.
- Upon reaching the Modern Era and having researched Steam Power (or equivalent), you can construct Modern Roads for a Gold cost.
- Building an Industrial or Modern Road via this mod costs a modest 20 Gold and does not consume a Military Engineer’s build charge.
- This functionality extends to building new roads on tiles without existing infrastructure, upgrading earlier road types to their modern counterparts, and can be utilized in neutral or city-state territories.
Seamless Integration and Compatibility
Designed with multiplayer in mind, the Buildable Roads mod is highly compatible with most other Civilization VI modifications, including those that alter the User Interface. Players can confidently integrate this mod into their existing setups without concerns about desynchronization in multiplayer games.
