Expand Your Civilization VI City Centers with New Buildings

Are you looking to inject more strategic depth into the early and mid-game of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI? Boom’s City Center+ mod offers a compelling solution by introducing a suite of new buildings and rebalancing existing ones within your city centers. This modification aims to provide greater early-game variety and unlock more meaningful choices for cities with specific terrain advantages, such as flatland or coastal starts.

A Wealth of New Urban Development

This mod introduces several impactful new structures that can significantly alter your city’s growth and capabilities. Each building is carefully integrated, unlocking at different technology tiers to ensure a balanced progression throughout your game.

  • Well: Available with the Mining technology, this structure provides a valuable +2 Housing, allowing your cities to grow larger and support more citizens earlier on.
  • Fishing Dock: Unlocked by Sailing, the Fishing Dock offers +1 Production and +1 Housing. Crucially, it also boosts adjacent Fishing Boats, adding +1 Production to them when next to any land tile. This building can only be constructed in coastal cities, making them more vital economic hubs.
  • Tavern: With the Construction technology, the Tavern becomes available. It grants +2 Gold and enhances your trade routes, providing +1 Food and Gold for domestic routes ending in its city, and +1 Gold for foreign routes passing through.
  • Courthouse: Unlocking at Recorded History, the Courthouse provides a city-wide boost of +5% Science and +5% Gold. It also grants +1 Amenity if a unit is garrisoned within the city. This building is restricted to conquered cities, rewarding aggressive expansion.

Refined Existing Structures

Beyond new additions, Boom’s City Center+ also touches upon existing city center buildings, subtly enhancing their utility. The Granary now provides an additional +1 Food bonus to farmable resources, while the Water Mill grants +1 Production to farms adjacent to a river and +1 Gold to farms next to a specialty district. The Sewer receives a boost to +2 Housing and +1 Amenity.

This mod is designed to be broadly compatible with other Sid Meier’s Civilization VI modifications, particularly those that do not directly alter the City Center model itself. It aims to enrich the core gameplay experience, offering new avenues for city development and strategic decision-making without fundamentally breaking the game’s balance.
