Annex City-State
Master the Map: Annex City-States in Civilization VI
Tired of friendly rivalries and subtle diplomatic dances? The Annex City-State mod for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI introduces a bold new mechanic, allowing you to directly absorb city-states into your burgeoning empire. This mod transforms your relationship with these independent entities, offering a more aggressive path to expansion and a potent way to secure vital bonuses.
Seize Control and Reap the Rewards
The core of the Annex City-State mod lies in its straightforward yet powerful implementation. Once you achieve suzerainty over a city-state and have dispatched a sufficient number of envoys, a new option appears. Through a dedicated panel, you can choose to annex the city-state entirely. This decisive action removes the original player of the city-state from the game, effectively incorporating it as your own territory without the traditional consequence of occupying its capital.
Upon successful annexation, your empire immediately gains all the influence-based bonuses associated with that city-state’s type, alongside the suzerain bonuses you were already enjoying. Furthermore, the newly annexed city receives a significant boost of +20 loyalty per turn, ensuring its stability within your domain.
Strategic Thresholds and Evolving Gameplay
The annexation process is governed by a configurable threshold. Initially, you’ll need seven envoys to annex a city-state. This number dynamically increases by two for every subsequent city-state you annex, creating a strategic challenge that scales with your ambition. A clear button, marked with a city-state icon, on the upper left screen bar provides easy access to the annexation panel, ensuring the mechanic is always at your fingertips.
Recent updates have enhanced both customization and strategic depth:
- Configurable Thresholds: Tailor the annexation experience to your playstyle. You can now adjust the initial envoy threshold and the increment value directly within the game’s option interface.
- Maintained Control: Annexed cities now require your continued vigilance. To retain their bonuses, you must hold onto the cities you’ve annexed. Losing an annexed city means losing the associated benefits, adding a layer of risk and reward to your territorial gains.
The Annex City-State mod offers a compelling new dimension for players seeking a more direct and impactful way to interact with the world of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI.
