Long Term Preservation Extended

Project Zomboid Mod: Extend Your Food Preservation Efforts

Surviving the zombie apocalypse in Project Zomboid demands careful resource management, and that includes keeping your food from spoiling. The “Long Term Preservation Extended” mod significantly enhances the game’s existing preservation mechanics, offering more options and addressing compatibility issues. This mod builds upon the original “Long Term Preservation” by Skittles, ensuring your hard-earned food supplies last longer, even in the challenging Build 42.16.3 and onwards.

Enhanced Preservation Capabilities

Forget relying solely on freezers that can fail or draw unwanted attention. “Long Term Preservation Extended” introduces new ways to preserve a wider variety of meats without specialized equipment. This means more flexibility in how you stockpile food, a crucial advantage when scavenging opportunities are scarce.

New Food Types and Preservation Methods

This mod significantly expands the types of food you can preserve. You’ll find new meat varieties that can be cured and stored, making more of your kills useful for the long haul. Additionally, the mod introduces:

  • New Supported Vanilla Meat Types: Including bird, chicken, frog, mutton, rabbit, rodent, sausage, steak, and turkey.
  • Cured Meat Jarring: Cured meats can now be jarred as corned meat, offering another layer of preservation.
  • New Supported Jarred Meat Types: Expanding on cured meats, you can now jar bird, chicken, frog, mutton, rabbit, rodent, and turkey.
  • New Jarred Spreads: Preserve acorns, avocados, and peanuts for later use.
  • New Mashed Recipes: Create jams from fruits, oils from vegetables, and minced garlic for added flavor and utility.

Addressing Recipe and Gameplay Tweaks

Beyond simply adding more items, “Long Term Preservation Extended” also fine-tunes existing systems. It fixes issues with broken recipes that may have cropped up due to game updates and resolves problems with foraging for specific items like salt rock. A notable change is how meat is consumed in recipes, now utilizing item count instead of units, which can impact your crafting calculations.

Compatibility and Localization

The mod is designed to be backward compatible with previous versions and works seamlessly with Build 42.12. It also boasts multiplayer compatibility for newer builds. While not required, it has been tested alongside popular mods like “Basics Utilities” and “Vanilla Foods Expanded,” and includes translations for Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian.
