Persistence: Carry Your Progress Through Noita’s Pyre

Ever wished you could bring something tangible back from your ill-fated expeditions into the depths of Noita? The Persistence mod, though no longer actively updated, offers a compelling solution by introducing meta-progression that lets you build upon your efforts across multiple runs. Instead of starting each new journey from absolute scratch, Persistence allows you to retain and utilize key resources and knowledge, fundamentally changing the way you approach the game’s challenges.

Unlocking Lasting Advantages

Upon returning to the starting area of Noita, Persistence empowers you with several new avenues for advancement. This is where the core of the mod’s progression lies, offering strategic advantages that can significantly ease future runs.

Key Features of Persistence:

  • Research and Development: Spend your hard-earned coin to research spells and wands. Once researched, these items become available for purchase, allowing you to build a more potent arsenal from the outset.
  • Custom Wand Crafting: Go beyond simple purchases. Persistence lets you design wands by selecting stats based on the best attributes you’ve researched from other wands. Furthermore, you can save these as templates for quick and easy acquisition in future runs.
  • Secure Your Wealth: A portion of your accumulated money is automatically stored upon your demise, ensuring that your financial progress isn’t entirely lost when the inevitable happens.
  • Strategic Teleportation: While in an untouched Holy Mountain, you gain the ability to teleport back to the surface, offering a quick escape or a chance to regroup and re-strategize without the peril of a full descent.
  • Wand Editing: Tweak and refine your wands directly, allowing for greater customization and optimization of your loadout.

Configurability for Your Playstyle

Persistence is highly configurable, allowing you to tailor its features to your preferred Noita experience. Through its configuration file, you can adjust the percentage of money retained upon death, the costs associated with research and purchases, and even enable or disable core features like wand editing in the starting area and teleportation from Holy Mountains. You can also influence the availability of Holy Mountain features and how the lobby location is determined.

While Persistence must be initiated on a new run to function, it ensures that existing runs remain unaffected. For those interested in exploring the mod’s inner workings or continuing its development, the source code is available.
