The Lunar Corruption (BETA)
The Lunar Corruption: A New Menace for Don’t Starve Together
Prepare yourself, survivors, for an insidious new threat is creeping into your worlds. The Lunar Corruption mod introduces a slow-burning infection that promises to test your resilience and adaptability like never before. This creeping menace will gradually mutate and consume your surroundings, forcing you to adapt or perish.
The Spreading Blight
At the heart of this corruption lies the Nightmare Mass, a parasitic entity that devours nearby items to fuel its growth and expansion. As it grows, it spawns a variety of terrifying new creatures to defend itself and overwhelm unsuspecting players.
Meet the Corrupted Horrors
The Lunar Corruption brings a host of new dangers to Don’t Starve Together:
* **Nightmare Clones:** These pale imitations of players serve as the corruption’s basic foot soldiers, relentlessly attacking anything in their path.
* **Nightmare Feeders:** Tasked with gathering resources, these creatures break down anything they can to empower the main mass. Interrupting them is key to slowing the spread.
* **Spreader Queens:** These are the primary agents of the corruption’s expansion. If left unchecked, they transform into more potent Nightmare Masses, escalating the threat.
* **Lurestalts:** Assimilated Eyeplants, these corrupted flora now possess a nasty bite, adding another layer of environmental hazard.
* **New Hound Waves and Encounters:** The corruption also intensifies existing threats, introducing new waves of hounds and unique night encounters that will keep you on your toes.
The Apex of the Affliction
As the corruption progresses through its nine phases, it culminates in a terrifying boss fight: a Lunar Werepig/Daywalker. This formidable foe can teleport and summon snares, offering a significant challenge. To unleash this beast, you’ll need to mine its statue, a perilous task that directly confronts the heart of the infection.
Beyond the direct combat, you may also encounter the Nefarious Pelontrix, an opportunistic entity that rewards you for feeding your campfires corrupted materials. Beware, for it can also possess your Shadow Atriums, offering a twisted reward for your dark deeds.
Fighting Back Against the Tide
Fortunately, the Lunar Corruption is not without its weaknesses. Purple gems and Night Lights are potent tools against this encroaching darkness. The mod also offers in-game commands for those who wish to delve deeper into its mechanics, allowing you to check the corruption’s mass and even add to it. To truly seal the corruption, you’ll need to feed a Nightmare Mass a possessed Shadow Atrium.
While this mod is currently in beta, with some visual elements still being polished, it offers a deeply engaging and challenging new experience for Don’t Starve Together. Can you cleanse your world of the Lunar Corruption, or will it consume everything you hold dear?
