Affliction Chance: Reversed

Embrace Serenity: Reversing Affliction Chances in Darkest Dungeon

Are the relentless afflictions of the Darkest Dungeon wearing down your resolve? Do you yearn for a world where virtue triumphs more often than madness? If you find yourself constantly battling the mental fortitude of your heroes, this mod offers a profound shift in the struggle against despair. Prepare to face the horrors with a newfound sense of mental resilience.

A Paradigm Shift in Psychological Warfare

This modification fundamentally alters the core mechanics governing your heroes’ mental states. By reversing the base chances for virtue and affliction, you’ll experience a dramatic reduction in the frequency of negative mental breaks. The base chance for a hero to achieve a beneficial Virtue is dramatically increased, while the likelihood of succumbing to a debilitating Affliction is significantly reduced.

Key Features of Affliction Chance: Reversed

* **Virtue Ascendant:** Experience a base 75% chance for your heroes to achieve a virtuous state when stressed, offering powerful boons and temporary respite from the darkness.
* **Affliction Subdued:** The base chance for affliction is lowered to a mere 25%, making mental collapse a rarer, though still present, threat.
* **Balanced Extremes:** While the core chances are shifted, the mod maintains a critical balance. Minimum and maximum chances for both virtue and affliction are set between 10% and 90%. This ensures that trinkets and in-game events can still influence your heroes’ mental state, preventing absolute certainty and preserving a degree of unpredictability.

Important Considerations

While this mod aims to bring a greater sense of control to your heroes’ mental well-being, there are a few exceptions to be aware of. The stoic Flagellant, by design, is always susceptible to their unique “Rapturous” affliction and remains unaffected. Similarly, some custom classes introduced by other mods may possess their own unique affliction or virtue systems, rendering them immune to this mod’s effects. Always check the specific details of any custom class mods you are using.

Furthermore, certain in-game scenarios have been noted to override these changes. The Shieldbreaker’s nightmare-ambush sequence will always result in affliction, and heroes lost during the Farmstead’s endless mode will still return with the “Refracted” affliction.

Seamless Integration and Uninstall

This mod is designed for ease of use. It is safe to uninstall at any point during your playthrough without consequence. Load order is generally not an issue, but if you encounter any problems, try placing it higher in your mod list. This mod is fully compatible with all DLCs and a wide array of other mod types, including custom classes, inventory changes, cosmetic mods, and major overhauls.
