Enhance Your Brotato Drops with Better Boxes
Tired of the same old loot drops in Brotato? The Better Boxes mod introduces a revamped drop system designed to inject more excitement and potential into your runs. This modification subtly alters how new types of boxes appear, offering a fresh layer of strategy and a chance for those coveted early-game power spikes.
How Better Boxes Changes the Game
This mod aligns the spawning mechanics of new boxes with the established rarity scaling found in the Brotato shop. However, it adds a crucial +5 wave offset. This adjustment acknowledges that boxes, in general, are a rarer find, ensuring that while not every run will be showered with top-tier loot, a fortunate playthrough can receive a significant boost from these enhanced drops. The functionality of these new boxes mirrors the concept of the Legendary Box; each new tier introduced by the mod will only yield rewards from its corresponding rarity level, preventing dilution of the loot pool.
Key Features and Customization
Better Boxes offers several configurable options to tailor the experience to your playstyle. These settings can be found in a dedicated JSON file located in your Brotato mod configuration folder.
- Wave Offset: This setting directly influences the rarity chance of the boxes. Increasing this value generally leads to a higher chance of rarer box types appearing. The default is set to 5.
- Remove Box Per Wave Limit: By default, there’s a diminishing return effect when collecting multiple boxes within a short span. Setting this option to ‘True’ removes this limitation, allowing for more consistent box collection.
- Luck Multiplier: This unique setting multiplies the ‘luck’ value specifically recognized by the box creation code. A higher value here (above 1) can result in more frequent box drops, though it does not directly increase the rarity of the boxes themselves.
Troubleshooting and Support
If you encounter any issues with Better Boxes, the first step is to ensure your mod is up to date. Unsubscribing from the mod via Steam and then re-subscribing is often the solution, as it forces a fresh download. Should problems persist, leaving a comment detailing the issue will aid in future development and fixes.
